BCG was the pioneer in business strategy when it was founded in 1963. Today, we help clients with total transformation-inspiring complex change, enabling organizations to grow, building competitive advantage, and driving bottom-line impact.

What You'll Do

Major Contract Execution, Strategy & Negotiation

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to MDPs and case teams on BCG's largest and most complex VBP arrangements
  • Identify contractual, financial, operational, and client risks; develop strategies to address them before they materially affect program outcomes
  • Lead problem-solving on complex execution issues, including ambiguous contract terms, changing circumstances, scope or economic challenges, disputes, and payment issues
  • Develop negotiation strategies and participate directly in client negotiations where needed, incl. C-suite and other executives
  • Integrate financial, legal, commercial, and client considerations to develop practical, business-oriented solutions
  • Partner with Finance, Legal, Commercial, Risk, and other stakeholders to align senior teams and shape strategy

Portfolio Insight & Execution Excellence

  • Lead reviews of major contracts to identify patterns, lessons learned, and opportunities to strengthen future contract structures, negotiations, and execution
  • Help case teams translate complex contractual commitments into practical execution requirements
  • Develop and improve guidance and best practices for contract execution, risk management, and invoicing discipline
  • Coach MDPs, case teams, and cross-functional colleagues on effective execution of complex commercial arrangements
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree required; JD preferred, or equivalent experience in complex commercial contracting and negotiation
  • 8+ years of relevant professional experience in legal practice, commercial contracting, complex negotiations, consulting, or a comparable environment
  • Significant experience analyzing, negotiating, and/or advising on complex commercial agreements
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate sophisticated negotiations involving senior internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong commercial judgment and the ability to develop practical solutions where contractual terms, economics, business objectives, execution considerations, and client relationships may be in tension
  • Experience with commercial disputes, claims, or other contested contractual matters is preferred

While this role may be particularly attractive to an attorney interested in applying legal, contractual, and negotiation expertise in a broader commercial and strategic capacity, we welcome candidates from non-legal backgrounds with significant experience in sophisticated commercial negotiations and complex contractual arrangements.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to make complex issues accessible to legal and non-legal audiences
  • Collaborative approach and ability to build trust across senior business leaders and cross-functional teams. Take the job seriously, but don't take yourself too seriously!
  • Ability to manage multiple complex matters in a fast-paced environment with sound judgment and discretion

The NAMR VBP team; Commercial, Legal, Finance, Global Revenue, Risk, and other BST functions; NAMR senior leadership; and case teams and MDPs across North America. Direct interaction with BCG clients where appropriate.
