Who We Are

Boston Consulting Group partners with leaders in business and society to tackle their most important challenges and capture their greatest opportunities. BCG was the pioneer in business strategy when it was founded in 1963. Today, we help clients with total transformation-inspiring complex change, enabling organizations to grow, building competitive advantage, and driving bottom-line impact.

To succeed, organizations must blend digital and human capabilities. Our diverse, global teams bring deep industry and functional expertise and a range of perspectives to spark change. BCG delivers solutions through leading-edge management consulting along with technology and design, corporate and digital ventures—and business purpose. We work in a uniquely collaborative model across the firm and throughout all levels of the client organization, generating results that allow our clients to thrive.

What You'll Do

The Staffing function is the holistic owner of key components of the BCG consulting team employee experience. Most notably, the function drives the development and deployment of BCG’s most important asset – its people – while supporting overall business objectives (e.g. staff utilization, project team balance). The Talent Senior Specialist - Pipeline will play a key role in driving strategic and operational support for the Staffing function in the Talent Management team within BCG’s West system, while also serving as a team member of the larger consulting talent community in North America.

The Talent Senior Specialist – Pipeline owns the process of landing an appropriate team of consultants to execute individual projects, while driving the overall objectives of the business (e.g., team balance and staff utilization). Additionally, a portion of this person’s time may be spent driving the dynamic allocation and prioritization of business development resources and managing other system priorities (e.g., summer intern staffing). Over time, this individual may also own a small roster of Associates or Consultants and will support their development, career navigation, and staffing.

The role is ideal for someone passionate about a career in the HR/People space, and who thrives in fast-paced environments while maintaining a keen attention to detail. A qualified candidate is a strategic thinker who can effectively prioritize competing tasks and collaborate with, influence and manage stakeholders (including all levels of Consulting staff + Business Services Team members across key functions like Finance/HR) to meet the needs of individual consultants, the firm, and our clients.

You're good at
  • Leading the staffing process for individual long & short term projects, from partnering with leadership on case context and needs to identifying, connecting, and confirming the right consulting resources for each individual opportunity
  • Optimizing team designs across projects as needed, in line with view of overall project pipeline, balancing business priorities with specific staff needs
  • Serving as a thought partner to project team leadership in evaluating options during the staffing process, understanding the impact on team/client economics and balance, and thoughtfully adhering to regional policies and guidelines
  • Supporting case intake, triaging, and load-balancing for TM team in collaboration with team leadership
  • Driving the summer staffing process for the office, including coordination with stakeholders (summer interns, consulting staff, case team leaders, NAMR Talent Managers, etc.)
  • May support end-to-end process of short-term staffing in the time between formal assignments for consultants, communicating and coordinating with consulting staff and Talent Managers – prioritizing demands in real time as needed
  • May deploy a small roster of consulting resources, ensuring each resource receives the right set of projects to support their development & professional goals; supporting CDC (Career Development Committee) by speaking to individual staff’s deployment, performance, and trajectory
  • Develop fluency with finance and business mechanics to understand the impact each individual staffing decision has on cohort, roster, office, and ultimately system success
  • Collaborating with other functions at relevant points of intersection (Career Development, Talent Acquisition, Human Resources, Teaming@BCG, Career Services, Finance, etc.)
  • Coordinating inputs and outputs with a diverse group of stakeholders at various levels of seniority; work as a team contributor within local, system, regional, and global staffing structures to ensure day-to-day outcomes are in line with policies
  • Leveraging digital tools and access to People and Finance reports to ensure data-driven decision making
What You'll Bring
  • Prior experience at a consulting firm and/or in an HR, Consulting, Talent or Finance role is preferred
  • 4+ years’ total work experience
  • Undergraduate degree required
