Job summary

Fenwick & West LLP is seeking a Talent Acquisition Specialist to own the full cycle of staff recruitment—from attracting and screening to selecting and onboarding across departments. This role can be based in any U.S.

office with a hybrid work arrangement, and the in-office frequency will be guided by business needs. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of recruiting experience (law firm or professional services a plus), knowledge of state and federal employment law, and strong communication

Job Description

Job Description Summary: Fenwick is seeking a Talent Acquisition Specialist who will be responsible for the full cycle staff recruiting process; attract, screen, select and onboard qualified staff across all levels within multiple departments.

This position can be based in any of our U.S. office locations and offers a hybrid work arrangement, allowing you to work both from home and at your designated Fenwick office. The frequency of in-office work will be determined by business needs and guided by your department's directives.

  • Drafts and posts employment advertisements, including negotiating and controlling ad and posting fees.
  • Works with employment and temporary staffing agencies, including negotiating and controlling employment-related fees.
  • Drafts job and position descriptions for newly created positions and reviews position descriptions, recommending changes as necessary.
  • Conducts and coordinates candidate screening and interview processes, including reviewing resumes and applications, testing and referring qualified applicants to hiring managers.
  • Recommends final candidates to appropriate hiring/administrative manager and conducts and coordinates pre-hire and offer processes, including reference checks, background screenings, present offer and employment letter.
  • Foster relationships with key stakeholders; partner with hiring managers to review, analyze and clarify job specifications, behaviors and skills required; understand business operations and develop recruiting strategies Partner with HR Managers ensuring the execution of firmwide policies and programs pertaining to recruitment and provide general assistance as needed in adherence to state and federal regulatory laws.
  • Develop sourcing plans specific to each job opportunity; utilize proactive recruiting and behavioral interview techniques; Remains abreast of new developments in recruiting, networks with counterparts in comparable law firms and attends local seminars to gain knowledge in legal industry recruiting and employment law; develop industry contacts.
  • Create a “best in class” candidate and client experience by driving speed, quality and effective communication, including status updates.
  • Works with the Director of Talent Acquisition, Diversity & Inclusion to develop recruiting procedures and strategies; determines most effective recruiting methods and sources to attract candidates and works with hiring managers in executing those strategies.
  • Mentor hiring managers on appropriate recruitment and legal hiring/interviewing practices and procedures; conduct training on lawful hiring practices and interview guidelines.
  • Maintains data on recruitment activities, applicant flow, interviews and hires; provides internal recruitment reports (e.g., time-to-fill, cost-to-hire and other tracking/metrics-type).
  • Develops and maintains contacts with educational institutions, employment agencies, placement firms and other sources for applicants, develops a “presence” in the legal industry and marketplace that facilitates contacts by the Firm, develops recruitment programs including job fairs and other events that offer the opportunity to promote Fenwick & West LLP (create brand awareness).
  • Remains abreast of new developments in recruiting, networks with counterparts in comparable law firms and attends local seminars to gain knowledge in legal industry recruiting and employment law.
  • Monitor and apply HR recruiting best practices.
  • Act as point of contact and build influential candidate relationships during the selection process.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Ability to pay conscientious attention to employees’ needs; A thorough knowledge of recruitment and selection techniques; Knowledge of the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
  • Willingness to travel on recruiting assignments.
  • Highly developed problem-solving skills using a team approach.
  • Ability to coordinate numerous projects and tasks simultaneously and set appropriate priority levels; ability to coordinate project resources when required.
  • Ability to respond creatively and with composure under pressure.
  • Ability to work beyond regular business hours as required.
  • Mastery of applicable software applications.
  • Reporting to the Talent Acquisition Manager, the ideal candidate will have 5+ years of recruiting experience (law firm or professional services experience a plus), and knowledge of state and federal employment law.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • The anticipated range for this position is: $84,000 - $120,000
  • A discretionary bonus for eligible employees may also be available based on performance.
  • Additional information about employee eligibility for benefits and discretionary bonus will be made available upon request.
