Job summary

Summit Truck Bodies in Kansas is seeking a Talent Acquisition & HR Generalist to balance full-cycle recruitment with HR administration at our Wathena plant. You will partner with leadership to source top talent and optimize onboarding, HRIS integrity, policy compliance and payroll execution.

This on-site role requires collaboration with leadership, accurate employee records, and handling payroll tasks while supporting HR initiatives across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field.

  • Professional communication skills, across all levels of the organization.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and sound judgment handling sensitive employee information.

Job description

At Summit Truck Bodies, the Talent Acquisition & HR Generalist drives foundational Human Resources operations, balancing strategic full-cycle recruitment with comprehensive HR administration. This role partners directly with leadership to source and secure top-tier talent while optimizing onboarding, HRIS integrity policy compliance and payroll execution. This position is 100% onsite at our manufacturing location in Wathena, KS.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Talent AcquisitionCollaborate with hiring managers to analyze organizational staffing needs and provide date-driven insights on market activity. Partner with stakeholders to define precise search parameters, establishing core requirements, competencies, and performance metrics for open requisitions. Promote and sell Summit Truck Equipment to prospective candidates. Demonstrate the ability to quickly grasp and present solutions to complex recruiting requirements and issues. Utilize all available resources to seek out industry-leading talent and incorporate them into the talent pipeline for Summit Truck Equipment. Develops Recruitment leads from all candidate interactions and conduct follow up calls to develop new talent and recruitment opportunities. Complete full-cycle talent acquisition in compliance with company processes: to include sourcing, networking, resume review, phone, video, in-person interviews, extend offers, negotiate and successfully hire top talent. Advise hiring managers on interview best practices, capture feedback systematically, and identify bottlenecks to reduce Time-to-Fill metrics. Facilitate a seamless, high-touch transition for candidates moving from the pre-hire stage to operational onboarding. Participate in job fairs and community activities to promote organizational agenda and image, while developing relationships for future goals.

HR GeneralistConsult with employees and managers on HR policies, providing guidance that is consistent, compliant, and fair. Support new hire onboarding including benefits orientation, I-9 compliance, and onboarding task completion. Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and personnel files in the HRIS system. Support payroll with auditing of new hire setup and bi-weekly and monthly payroll cycles. Assist with HR compliance tasks including required notices, policy acknowledgments, and file audits. Escalate complex employee relations, legal, compliance, or labor-related issues to HR Business Partners. Participate in continuing education to stay current on relevant HR topics and best practices. Other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

Requires sitting, standing, balancing, bending or stooping for prolonged periods of time. Requires eye hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and vision to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports. Requires working in a fast paced environment. Requires the ability to occasional travel to local business locations, during business hours, about 5-10% of the time.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field. Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities accurately and efficiently. Professional communication skills, both written and verbal, across all levels of the organization. Commitment to confidentiality and sound judgment in handling sensitive employee information. Strong organizational and time management skills. Demonstrated solutions-oriented mindset the with ability to identify issues, identify root cause and recommend people-centered resolutions. Demonstrated commitment to customer service. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Gmail); comfort working across both platforms is essential. Advanced spreadsheet skills with the ability to build, maintain, and audit data in Excel orGoogle Sheets, including formulas, filters and data validation. Ability to work on-site and collaborate effectively with employees and managers across departments. Ability to travel to various locations as needed.
