Job summary

Watson Civil Construction, Inc. is seeking a Takeoff Technician to join our estimating team in Tampa or Jacksonville/St. Augustine, FL.

The role supports senior estimators on heavy civil and roadway projects, focusing on data entry, plan review, and organizing estimating materials. You will review drawings, perform quantity takeoffs for earthwork, utilities, and roadway items, and input data into HCSS, Agtek, and Bluebeam, while collaborating with suppliers and subcontractors.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or coursework in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related technical field preferred
• Familiarity with reading civil construction plans and performing basic measurements
• Experience with takeoff or design software (HCSS, Agtek, Bluebeam, AutoCAD) a plus
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Excellent communication and time management skills
• Motivated to learn and grow in the construction estimating field

Responsibilities

• Assist in organizing bid documents and maintaining project files

• Support the gathering and organization of supplier and subcontractor quotes
• Help maintain standardized takeoff templates and historical quantity databases
• Learn and apply estimating principles under the guidance of senior estimators

We are a dynamic and growing company seeking a Takeoff Technician to join our estimating team in our Tampa or Jacksonville/St. Augustine, FL office. Job Description

The Takeoff Technician will assist the estimating team by performing accurate quantity takeoffs and supporting proposal preparations for heavy civil and roadway projects. This position will focus on data entry, plan review, and organization of estimating materials to help ensure complete and accurate cost estimates.

Responsibilities:

• Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and other project documents.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for earthwork, utilities, and roadway items using company software.

• Experience with takeoff or design software (Agtek, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, HCSS, or similar) is a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Education

• Associate degree or coursework in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related technical field preferred. Equivalent experience considered.
