Job summary

COLSA Corporation in Huntsville, Alabama seeks a Lead Software Engineer / Product Owner to architect and deliver complex software for the U.S. Army's Threat Systems Management Office, including TAK integration across clients, servers, and data pipelines.

This role requires 8–12 years of experience, active Secret clearance, and hands-on work with Java, C++, Python, React, Go; and development environments on Windows/Linux, Docker, and Git.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
  • 8–12 years of related experience.
  • Hands-on experience supporting systems integration efforts.
  • Experience configuring and maintaining development environments, including Git-based version control, Linux OS, and Docker.
  • Experience with GitFlow branching model.
  • Front-end development with responsive, user-focused interfaces.
  • Experience designing, developing, and integrating custom interfaces, extensions, or plugins within existing software frameworks.
  • Active Secret security clearance; U.S. Citizenship required.

COLSA Corporation is seeking a Lead Software Engineer / Product Owner to support the U.S. Army's Threat Systems Management Office (TSMO). This position will design, develop, integrate, test, and troubleshoot software solutions involving the Team Awareness Kit (TAK), including the integration of clients, servers, data pipelines, and other systems to deliver capabilities that meet end-user and government customer requirements.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential functions)

  • Design, develop, test, and implement software programs using Java, C++, Python, React, Go, or similar technologies.

  • Support software development and delivery using Jira and Kanban-based continuous flow processes.

Required Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or Software Engineering.

  • Minimum of 8-12 years of related experience.

  • Hands-on experience supporting systems integration efforts.

  • Experience configuring and maintaining development environments, including Git-based version control, Linux operating systems, and Docker containerization.

  • Experience with version control software and the Driessen branching model (Gitflow).

  • Practical experience with front-end application development, including the implementation of responsive, user-focused interfaces.

  • Experience designing, developing, and integrating custom interfaces, extensions, or plugins within existing software frameworks.

  • Active Secret security clearance; U.S. Citizenship required.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Previous experience leading software development teams.

  • Experience with web development technologies such as React, HTML, CSS, or JavaScript.

  • Natural Language Processing (NLP) experience using Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures with Large Language Models (LLMs).

  • Computer vision experience with object detection or gait recognition using Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and YOLO models.
