Job summary

Teck Resources Limited is seeking an Engineer, Tailings & Environment for Red Dog Mine in Alaska. The role supports closure planning, reclamation and biodiversity initiatives, and closure execution readiness across Teck’s operations.

You will work with engineers, operations, environmental teams, and regulators to advance costed plans and readiness milestones. The position features a two-weeks-on / two-weeks-off rotation, on-site work, and a strong emphasis on safety, documentation, and

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant Engineering discipline (e.g. Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, Mining Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline)
  • Master's degree with specialization in mine closure, geotechnical engineering, hydrotechnical engineering, geomorphology, or reclamation is considered an asset.
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience with mine closure, mine waste management, civil earthworks, reclamation, or related fields. Seven (7) or more years preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in both formal and informal settings, including technical writing and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Support closure planning and implementation on-site in alignment with Teck’s Closure Standard, and provide reporting on closure-related tasks.
  • Assist in identifying and migrating closure, reclamation, and biodiversity risks, evaluate options, and implement solutions.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of environmental risks and hazards and adhere to safety policies.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and SOPs and advise coworkers and visitors as required.
  • Develop and maintain closure and MLE budgets, cost estimates, and readines milestones.
  • Collaborate with Projects Team to prepare progressive closure and reclamation projects with detailed designs and IFC drawings.
