Job summary

Teck Resources Limited is seeking a Principal Mine Engineer to lead the Mine Engineering team and deliver safe, practical plans aligned with production and business objectives. The role reports to the Superintendent, Integrated Planning and involves oversight across weekly, forecast, budget and annual planning horizons.

The position follows a two-weeks-on / two-weeks-off rotation (on-site) at Red Dog and requires a strong technical background in open-pit mining, budgeting and governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering or related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years of mining experience with significant mine planning and technical services.
• Experience leading, supervising or coordinating engineers and technical professionals.
• Strong background in open-pit mine planning and execution (drill & blast, load & haul, waste development).
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis and business planning.
• Knowledge of engineering governance, QA/QC and risk management.
• Deswik experience is a plus.
• Proven leadership and ability to mentor technical staff.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Mine Engineering team with clear expectations and performance management.
• Oversee Mine Engineering inputs to weekly, forecast, budget and annual planning horizons.
• Ensure mine sequencing and material movement plans support production and ore quality.
• Maintain engineering governance, QA/QC, documentation and best practices.
• Provide technical oversight of mine planning and execution activities.
• Ensure waste rock placement and dump development meet geotechnical and permitting requirements.
• Analyze performance, identify risks and opportunities, and apply learnings to future plans.
• Collaborate with Mine Operations, Geology and related teams for integrated decision making.
• Support studies and implementation of new systems to improve safety and productivity.
• Contribute to budget, forecast and business planning with cost and resource analyses.
