Job summary

University of California, Berkeley seeks an Assistant Coach/Coordinating Instructor for the Taekwondo club within the UC Martial Arts Program. This is a 1-year, part-time (4.4 hours/week) non-exempt position in the Department of Recreational Sports on the Berkeley campus.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of teaching or coaching experience.
• Supervisory and leadership skills to mentor staff.
• Advanced interpersonal, motivational, and team leadership skills.
• Maintain current martial arts competition rules (NGB/ISF).
• Martial arts rank certification minimum 4th Dan or equivalent.
• Strong English verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Teaches martial arts at practices and competitions.
• Builds a nationally competitive team through recruiting and retention.
• Collaborates with Athletic Trainers and Coaches to design conditioning programs.
• Proposes budgets and operates within approved budget.
• Engages donor meetings, events and monitoring academic performance.
• Liaises with UC Martial Arts Program community and alumni.
