Job summary

Cal State East Bay is seeking a Coaching Assistant for Intercollegiate Athletics (12 month, temporary through June 30, 2027). The role supports the head coach with practices, travel, recruiting, and compliance, while helping to develop student-athletes academically and athletically.

Responsibilities include planning practices, coordinating competitions and equipment, monitoring academic progress, assisting with fundraising, and ensuring adherence to NCAA and conference rules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology or related field is the minimum requirement.
• Master's degree in Kinesiology or related field must be obtained within five years of hire.
• Current First Aid, CPR and AED training.
• Competitive coaching background.
• Must hold a valid Driver's License.
• Ability to work weekends, evenings, and odd hours.
• Must be able to pass NCAA recruiting test and understand NCAA rules.

Responsibilities

• Assist the head coach with day-to-day planning and supervision of practices and competitions.
• Coordinate scheduling of competitions and equipment within the department budget.
• Assist with travel arrangements including cash advances and hotel/air/ground transportation and meals.
• Attend department and assigned staff meetings; complete required trainings.
• Support compliance and academic progress for student-athletes under head coach guidance.
