Job summary

Talon Technical Services is seeking a Tactical Vehicle Operator Lead at Fort Irwin, CA. The role oversees all aspects of tactical vehicle operation, including convoy planning, maintenance checks, load securement, and safety compliance in challenging environments.

You will mentor crews, perform on-the-job training, and ensure adherence to Army regulations, DOT rules, and company CIP/QA programs. A valid California CDL Class A and five years of tactical vehicle experience are required, with the

Qualifications

• Must understand and be able to use technical manuals.
• Must be experienced in computer usage.
• Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently.
• Will be required, on an as needed basis, to assist to perform functions in alternate areas of the project.

Responsibilities

• Operates tactical vehicles of various size and design.
• Performs operator level preventive maintenance checks and services.
• Operates radio or telephone to communicate with the base station and other vehicles.
• Maintains compliance with dispatch and en route reporting procedures and safety rules.
• Loads and secures cargo and maintains required documentation.
• Performs emergency en route repairs as required.
• Picks up and delivers cargo and equipment locally and remotely.
• Supports CIP and QA program and mentors others.
• Writes performance evaluation comments when in directive roles.
• Participates in training and cross-training sessions.
