Job summary

Talon Technical Services is seeking a Tactical Vehicle Mechanic to perform FMC and safety verifications, assess repair parts, and execute mechanical maintenance on tactical wheeled vehicles and related equipment. The role includes mentoring teammates and ensuring procedures meet published standards.

Candidate will handle diagnostics, maintain logs, and participate in cross-training, with emphasis on safety and quality. On-site work at Fort Irwin, CA, under government/contract specifications.

Qualifications

• Must understand and be able to use technical manuals and schematic diagrams.
• Field of Expertise: Mechanical inspection, maintenance and repair of tactical/commercial vehicles and equipment.
• Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently.
• Writes performance evaluation comments and reports when placed in a directive role.

Responsibilities

• Performs FMC + Safety verifications and determines repair parts; maintains mechanical maintenance for tactical vehicles and equipment.
• Communicates with customers during off-site FMC + safety verifications.
• Generates and maintains physical and electronic log books and records.
• Participates in on-the-job and cross-training as required.
• Meets 95% productivity targets per contract.
• Ensures work is performed correctly per manuals and publications.
• Performs maintenance on forklifts, heavy equipment trucks and trailers.
• Uses diagnostic tests to identify mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and cooling system failures.
• Repairs various systems and components per procedures and publications.
• Removes and replaces engine, drive train and body components.
