Job summary

MTSI is seeking a Network Engineer to support a high-visibility Air Force program at Wright‑Patterson AFB in Dayton, OH. The role focuses on tactical networks, cybersecurity, and system integration within an Integrated Product Team. Expect interaction with customers and major defense contractors in a mostly site-based environment.

Required 18+ years in DoD networks, DoD acquisitions familiarity, and extensive routing/switching knowledge. Certifications and RF/5G experience are a plus.

Qualifications

• 18+ years of experience with 14 years of relevant DoD networks experience.
• Familiarization with the DoD acquisitions process.
• Familiarization with tactical Datalinks and aircraft communications systems.
• Experience designing, implementing, and managing complex network systems.
• In-depth knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP/S, SNMP, VoIP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, IPSEC, SSL, VPN).
• Strong understanding of routing, switching, and wireless concepts.
• Strong background in cybersecurity principles for military networks.
• Experience with network monitoring and analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Serve as tactical network Engineer guiding the implementation of robust communication network architectures using commercial and military systems.
• Provide SME support to technical reviews and serve on high level reviews for Capability Release Team.
• Support program office in evaluating development, integration, modernization, and sustainment initiatives.
• Evaluates contractor and government proposals, develops, and analyzes technical, engineering and test/verification plans.
• Design secure, scalable network infrastructure to support real-time communications and data transfer.
• Define plan for implementation and oversight of network configurations, hardware installations, and upgrades.
• Identify management tools for network performance and troubleshooting to ensure high availability.
• Collaborate with IT/operational teams to integrate network solutions with sensors, comms, and external databases.
• Ensure seamless interoperability between different tactical systems.
• Advise on optimization of network performance to support mission-critical operations.
• Analyze equipment and software performance deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
• Support requirements development, allocation, and verification.
• Support review and evaluation of weapon system design, analyses, and verification documentation.
• Gather and present program briefs; support source selections in a technical advisory role.
