Job summary

Cumming Group is seeking a Tactical Lab Project Manager to plan and coordinate laboratory readiness, equipment planning, and project inception across emerging tech and research programs.

You will lead cross-functional planning with design teams, manage schedules, milestones, dependencies, and risks, and ensure readiness before handoff. This role requires onsite work in the Bay Area with nationwide remote support, and a strong background in lab environments and facilities planning.

Qualifications

  • BS in Construction, CM, Engineering, QS, Architecture, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in project management, facilities, engineering, laboratory operations, or other technical environments.
  • CCM, PMP, PE, AIA, LEED certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with design teams and cross-functional stakeholders to support lab space programming, site selection, and design coordination.
  • Lead planning and coordination activities for laboratory readiness initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain integrated project schedules, milestones, action plans, dependencies, and risk logs.
  • Manage project scope from intake through design handoff and project inception.
  • Track progress and communicate status, risks, dependencies, and mitigation plans to stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, efficiencies, and cost savings.
  • Support planning efforts for laboratory moves, expansions, renovations, and new facilities.
  • Ensure readiness requirements are identified, documented, and communicated before project handoff.
  • Coordinate planning for furniture, equipment, infrastructure, and specialized laboratory systems.
  • Track and report key planning milestones, deliverables, and performance metrics.
  • Support procurement planning activities for laboratory equipment and infrastructure.
  • Coordinate vendor engagement, information gathering, planning activities, and stakeholder alignment.
