Job summary

Ro Health is hiring paraeducators to support students with behavioral needs in Tacoma and surrounding school districts. Positions are in-person, with schedules Monday through Friday up to 34 hours per week.

Responsibilities include 1:1 and general classroom support, clear communication, and light lifting. Required qualifications include high school diploma with AA degree or higher or Para Pro exam, 6 months of relevant experience, CPR and TB.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; AA degree or higher (48 semester credits / 72 quarter credits) preferred
  • Para Pro Exam completion upon hire
  • Minimum 6 months of professional experience working with children
  • CPR card within the past 2 years
  • TB test within the past year
  • SPED experience and Right Response Trained preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 behavioral and educational support to students
  • Provide general classroom support across teachers/classrooms
  • Communicate calmly and clearly with children and adults
  • Assist with mobility and daily activities; lift up to 40 pounds
  • Assist with toileting when needed

Overview:
  • In-person
  • Tacoma and surrounding school districts
  • Schedule M-F up to 34 hrs per week
  • Compensation $23-$29
  • Start date: 26-27 School Year
Responsibilities:
  • Providing support either in a 1:1 or general capacity:
    • As a 1:1 support: you would be going to each class with your student to provide behavioral and educational support throughout the day. 1:1 supporters are responsible to ensure their student is on task and working towards their behavioral goals.
    • General classroom support: providers who are assigned to work with a single teacher or classroom. In this role, providers will support wherever they are needed most by the teacher. Typically every day looks different in this position, and you may be working with several different students throughout your day.
  • Calm, clear, and concise communication with both children and adults
  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit for long periods of time
  • Potential need to frequently bend, crouch, and lift (up to 40 pounds)
  • Potential toileting assistance
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma AND AA Degree or higher, 48 Semester Credits, 72 Quarter Credits
    • OR Para Pro Exam Completion upon hire (passing score 455) we can get you set up for this when onboarding based on commitment to the hiring process
  • Minimum 6 months of professional experience working with children
  • Strong assessment skills
  • Willingness to assist in students’ learning processes
  • CPR card within the past 2 years in-person
  • TB result from the past 1 year
    • We can sign you up for both CPR and TB if necessary
  • Inclination to work well in a team environment
  • Preferred qualifications:
    • Previous experience in schools
    • Right Response Trained
    • SPED experience
