Job summary

Sylvania is hiring a Teacher Assistant / Health Care Aide for the ASD Classroom & FLOAT at Early Elementary. Hours are 6.75 per day, Monday–Friday, 8:45am–4:00pm, during the school year.

Position reports to assigned teachers; highly qualified per Department of Education requirements. Training may include medical care tasks such as CPR and other supported practices.

Qualifications

• Associates degree, 60 credit hours or ETS score 460+.
• Basic First Aid/CPR.
• Behavioral Management.
• Experience working with children.
• Record Keeping.
• Lifting, movement support.

Responsibilities

• Follow the teacher's directives and reinforce lessons and activities.
• Monitor progress, data/record keeping, and student support.
• Provide health care assistance as trained in medical procedures.
• Assist with supervising students during activities and transitions.

POSITION: 6.75 hour Teacher Assistant / Health Care Aide in the ASD Classroom & FLOAT @ Early Elementary (Monday-Friday; 8:45am-4:00pm; School Year Only)

RATE OF PAY: $16.79

QUALIFICATIONS FOR TEACHER ASSISTANT/ HEALTH CARE ASSISTANT:

• Teacher Assistants shall report and be directly responsible to the assigned teacher(s) as approved by the administrator. They will be responsible to follow the teacher’s directives and be involved with the students, monitoring progress, data/record keeping, and reinforcing the lessons and/or activities, or as deemed appropriate by position. Must be Highly Qualified per Department of Education in order to apply for this position.
• HCA are employed to primarily provide specific assistance to identified students. These positions may require district to provide training in medical related and bodily care functions to include but not limited to trachea suction, cauterization, postural drainage or percussion, CPR, ostomy feeding tubes, bathing, catheterization, diapering, lifting, dispensing of medication and other as allowed by low, per original posting, and agreed to by the association.
