Yard Workers are important members of the Star Nursery team. They provide outstanding customer service and sales assistance to customers. They answer customers’ questions, recommend products/materials, and provide a safe working/shopping environment. They provide general plant upkeep & quality control and work outside in the yard area of our stores.
Job Description:
- Follows operations standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, and complete and on-time service
- Follows policies in the areas of operations techniques and materials usage
- Loading and unloading plant material
- Operating a forklift
- Product knowledge & plant maintenance (watering, cleaning, pruning)
- Stocking & labeling
- Store upkeep
- Receiving, stocking & moving merchandise
- Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:
- Effective and relevant work experience in lawn and garden center industry or equivalent
- Honest and hardworking
- Must be able to work long hours (seasonal overtime available) in all types of weather conditions
- Must be able to lift & move plant material
- Must be able to pass a drug test (safety-sensitive position)
- Authorization to work in the United States

- Frequently bending, twisting, and rotating trunk, arms, and legs
- Standing 100% of the time/walking 99% of the time/climbing 10% of the time
- Working with arms extended and bent constantly
- Frequently moving parts and stock weighing up to 35 pounds, 10 to 50 feet
- Occasionally moving parts and stock weighing up to 50 pounds; pushing and pulling
- Frequently moving merchandise weighing 10 to 25 pounds from floor to counter
- Occasionally moving and stocking overhead shelves with parts weighing 5 to 15 pounds
- Constant gross hand and finger dexterity; frequently grasping and manipulating
