Job summary

BWX Technologies, Inc. is seeking a T&W Operations Unit Manager to oversee the Transportation and Waste Management Operations Group on-site in Erwin, Tennessee.

This role serves as the primary operational liaison with other NFS departments, contractors, and support groups to ensure safe, compliant waste packaging and efficient plant operations. The position requires a BS degree with substantial supervisory experience in the nuclear industry or equivalent, or 14 years of industrial experience

Qualifications

  • B. S. degree -- Science or Engineering preferred or without B. S. degree, 14 years of industrial experience of which 5 must have been in a supervisory position in the nuclear industry or other equivalent formal training and work experience.
  • With a B. S. degree, six - eight years' experience in an industry of which 5 must have been in a supervisory position in the nuclear industry or other equivalent formal training and work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide management leadership and direction to the T&WM front-line supervisors ensuring safe and compliant operations and waste packaging.
  • Prioritize the T&WM Operations Group activities/tasks based on information provided by NFS manufacturing operations management, capital projects representatives, maintenance management, T&WM Shipping Manager, Engineering and other NFS support groups.
  • Coordinate and schedule T&WM hourly resources to support plant activities to ensure timely waste packaging. Manage hourly shift quotas and make adjustments as necessary to support NFS priorities.
  • Resolve conflicts as they arise and assist front-line supervisors with resolutions related to the bargaining unit labor contract.
  • Plan, obtain required support from safety/security/NDA/MC&A, and execute storage and in-plant movements of nuclear materials, waste containers/packages, and necessary supplies.
  • Mentor, motivate, and influence T&WM front-line supervisors to promote team building and professional development. Provide feedback as necessary to promote professional growth.
  • Coordinate scheduling of required training for both T&WM front-line supervisors and hourly staff.
  • Control department costs. Provide budgets and spending projections for T&WM Operations Group.

T&WM Operations Unit Manager
Position Overview:

This position is responsible for managing the resources and the daily operationsof Transportation and Waste Management Operations Group. This positon is the primary operational liaison with other NFS departments, contractors, and support groups.

Your Day to Day as a Facilities Utilization Unit Manager:

he base salary range for this position in Tennessee (US-TN)at the start of employment is expected to be between $115,000and $180,000per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
