Job summary

Alliant Energy Corporation in Beloit, WI seeks an Instrument and Electrical Technician to perform inspections, calibration, and maintenance on combustion turbine, HRSG, and steam generator systems in a safe, compliant manner.

Responsibilities include operating and maintaining water treatment systems, logging data, performing preventive maintenance, and using Maximo for work orders; a strong emphasis on safety and teamwork across the plant. Valid driver’s license required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2 years electrical or instrument tech college or equivalent, or 4 years related experience.
  • Experience with combustion turbines, HRSGs, or steam generators is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform combustion turbine operations, inspections, and instrument control safely and in compliance with guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment; calibrate and service instrumentation and controls.
  • Maintain logs, monitor water treatment systems, and perform preventive maintenance.
  • Operate and inspect gas/steam turbines and related auxiliary equipment.

Performs varied instrument control and electrical, basic mechanical and maintenance activities and other duties necessary to maintain the generation facility to which they are assigned.What you will doPerforms combustion turbine operations, combined cycle, HRSG, and steam generator inspections and instrument control and electrical in a safe and efficient manner adhering to all corporate and company guidelines to ensure compliance with all city, state, and federal regulations.Participates in job safety briefings, safety tailgate sessions, safety reviews and safety observations.Observes, operates and initiates repairs to the combustion turbine, combined cycle, HRSG, steam generator and related equipment.Maintain an accurate operating log of all equipment and performs preventive maintenance.Maintains, operates and repairs water treatment systems. Receives and unloads acid and caustic trucks. Troubleshoots and repairs the water treatment systems controls and valves.Maintain optimum water treatment system performance.Calibrates and repairs recording and indicating instrumentation.Maintains water treatment systems. Performs tests and reports data on waste treatment systems.Maintains performance monitoring and control equipment. Monitors gas and steam turbine performance. Keeps testing records as assigned.Maintains warehouse, orders supplies as needed.Performs regular inspections of gas and steam turbines and auxiliary equipment utilizing Maximo. Participates during overhauls of all related plant equipment.Performs the instrument control and electrical, basic mechanical troubleshooting, maintaining, repairing, cleaning, inspecting and constructing of equipment and systems for the generation facility.Operates and/or obtains information from various electrical devices used to support specific equipment diagnostics or work activities; gathers, interprets and logs data.Is proficient in the use of machine tools and various hand powered tools as job needs dictate.Operates mobile and heavy equipment to perform maintenance tasks.Performs various welding activities.Supports safety, plant reliability, productivity, and plant efficiency improvements by participating in various continuous improvement activities.Performs all work according to established procedures and safety practices.Performs various generating plant and shop area housekeeping functions.Performs other duties which are similar, related, or incidental to this position.Education RequirementsHigh School GED or DiplomaRequired Experience2 years electrical or instrument and control technical college or equivalency or 4 year experience in electrical or instrument and control trade or completed apprenticeship; or 2 years of Combustion Turbine electrical experienceOther RequirementsMust possess a valid driver’s license.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesDemonstrated ability to solve problemsProven ability to work on delicate equipmentDemonstrated ability to coordinate work and work with othersStrong sense of personal and technical responsibilityPossess necessary skills in basic mechanicalAbility to work from blueprints, diagrams, drawings, and specificationsKnowledge of plant operations and systemsDeveloped skills in machiningKnowledge of theory and skill in weldingKnowledge of company safety rulesAbility to perform the physical requirements of the jobAbility to work effectively in a collaborative and inclusive work environment.Our people are passionate about what they do, the product they sell, and the customers they serve.
