Job summary

University of California, Davis's CAHFS seeks a highly autonomous Systemwide Safety Manager to lead Select Agent Program RO, High Containment (BSL-3) Lab Manager, and Facilities Coordinator duties across four statewide locations.

You will develop and enforce environmental, health and safety policies for ~200 employees, conduct trainings and audits, oversee facilities management, and serve as on-site incident command and liaison to agencies, with after-hours support as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, microbiology, molecular biology, public health or related field or equivalent experience.
• Experience managing health and safety programs, employee training, and emergency action plans.
• Advanced knowledge of biosafety regulations and BSL-3/BSL-2 facilities concepts (BMBL 5th Ed).
• Strong written and verbal communication, and ability to interact with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead CAHFS Systemwide Safety Manager and RO responsibilities across four California sites.
• Develop, implement and monitor EH&S policies for ~200 employees; conduct trainings and audits.
• Oversee facilities management for Davis lab and provide backup support to the Davis Facilities Manager.
