SICK, Inc. seeks a Systems Application Engineer II to shape intelligent automation across North America from either Minneapolis, MN or Canton, MA.

You will design and deliver vision, ML, and analytics solutions that realize Sensor Intelligence, partnering with sales, integrators, and customers. The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration, system validation, and hands-on support for deployments, with a requirement for 7+ years in automation and 4+ years in vision/machine analytics.

Qualifications

• Translate complex customer problems into structured technical solution architectures, especially multisensor/vision/machine-learning systems.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills with quick root-cause analysis and corrective action paths in live environments.
• Experience designing or supporting end-to-end vision inspection workflows including lighting, optics, imaging algorithms, and environmental considerations.
• Ability to interpret and analyze large datasets or machine analytics outputs to support tuning, optimization, and predictive maintenance.
• Skilled in leading technical discussions with cross-functional stakeholders (engineering, sales, PM, integrators).
• Familiarity with system validation methodologies (FAT/SAT/POC) and structured test documentation.
• Self-starting, quick learner, capable of working independently in field-based settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide vision, ML, and digitalization application support to internal teams, distributors, integrators, and customers.
• Support sales pursuits with expert technical guidance to close opportunities.
• Develop new system concepts by combining SICK technologies with third-party solutions to create differentiated value.
• Facilitate collaboration between global cross-functional teams to leverage knowledge centers and solve customer challenges.
• Capture customer requirements during discovery sessions and translate them into actionable solution specs.
• Assist in project scoping, acceptance criteria, inclusions/exclusions with CPM teams as needed.
• Test and validate system functionality to meet customer requirements; deliver training to customers, integrators, and internal teams.
• Provide ongoing technical support and continuous improvement recommendations for deployed systems.
• Contribute to competitive analysis and value proposition development for technologies and services.
