Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a Systems Integration Manager in San Francisco to lead device validation infrastructure, test automation, and lab operations. This player-coach role combines hands-on engineering with people leadership to build scalable testing platforms.

You will partner with hardware, software, firmware, QA, and release teams to define validation strategy and ensure readiness across the product lifecycle. Relocation assistance is available as part of the package.

Qualifications

• Experience leading engineering teams responsible for systems integration, test infrastructure, developer tooling, device quality, or hardware-software validation.
• Strong technical background in software engineering, embedded systems, test automation, or systems engineering.
• Experience with consumer hardware products and validating software, firmware, and physical devices together.

Responsibilities

• Lead the team responsible for device validation infrastructure, test automation, developer tooling, and lab operations.
• Define validation strategy, improve release readiness, and ensure test environments scale with the product.
• Build scalable test infrastructure and hardware-in-the-loop systems for reliable testing.
• Scale lab and fleet operations, provisioning and maintaining large-scale device fleets and rigs.
• Set priorities, roadmaps, and cross-functional collaboration to improve product quality.
• Own and communicate product quality with metrics and cohesive test reports.
