Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a Systems Integration Manager in San Francisco to lead validation infrastructure, test automation, and lab operations for a new category of devices. You’ll guide architecture, tooling, and the team to deliver robust test signals across hardware and software.

This player‑coach role emphasizes technical judgment, people leadership, and scalable systems from prototype to launch. Hybrid work with relocation assistance is offered.

Qualifications

• Experience leading engineering teams responsible for systems integration, test infrastructure, developer tooling, device quality, or hardware–software validation.
• Strong technical background in software engineering, embedded systems, test automation, or systems engineering.
• Extensive background in consumer hardware products and understand the challenges of validating software, firmware, and physical devices together.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the team: hire, mentor, and develop engineers and lab ops staff for test infrastructure and release validation.
• Own validation strategy and release quality: define criteria, metrics, and escalation for reliability and readiness.
• Build scalable test infrastructure: develop testing platform, automation, and device orchestration with scalable rigs.
• Scale lab and fleet operations: ensure large fleets, labs, provisioning, and maintenance stay reliable.
• Set priorities and roadmap: balance near-term needs with long-term infrastructure investments.
• Partner across teams: collaborate with hardware, embedded systems, QA, reliability, and release groups.
• Own and communicate product quality: synthesize test data into a clear signal for launches.
