Job description

This is a fully remote position open to candidates based in Canada.

Overview

Anovia is seeking a Systems Upgrade Specialist to keep our Call Handling customer base on current, supported software releases. In this role, you will plan, schedule, and execute remote software upgrades at customer sites, working closely with customers, internal engineering teams, and support organisations across mission-critical, high-availability environments, including public safety and emergency communications systems.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise in Linux systems, combined with excellent communication skills and the composure to operate effectively under pressure in regulated, high-stakes environments. You are comfortable representing Anovia in conversations with stakeholders ranging from dispatchers to senior technical leaders, and you take pride in clear documentation and dependable execution.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and execute remote software upgrades to keep Call Handling customers on current, supported releases.
  • Coordinate directly with customers to schedule maintenance windows and communicate upgrade changes.
  • Collaborate with Research & Development and Engineering teams to refine and execute upgrade processes.
  • Configure and validate software to ensure compatibility across diverse customer environments.
  • Manage critical customer issues during upgrades, providing timely communication to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Document technical issues, resolutions, and escalation details, and maintain whitepapers, methods of procedure, and technical bulletins.
Requirements
  • 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience working within Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments.
  • Demonstrated experience managing software configuration and upgrades in complex, customer-specific environments.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues in mission-critical, high-availability systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Excellent teamwork, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Calm and effective under pressure, particularly in high-stakes or time-sensitive situations.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail and documentation quality.
