Job Summary
Join our team in Norwell, MA, a charming town known for its rich history and vibrant community. This full-time position offers competitive pay of $40–$50 per hour and involves working throughout New England. We are seeking an experienced professional to install, service, and maintain low-voltage and mission-critical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform repair, maintenance, upgrades, and moves/adds/changes for security and wireless communication systems.
- Install and terminate low-voltage cabling, including category-rated and multi-conductor cable.
- Manage cables, install devices, and conduct related service work.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair security and communication systems and equipment.
- Conduct preventative maintenance and system upgrades.
- Complete system testing, deficiency repairs, and required documentation.
- Maintain accurate service records and provide regular updates to the service team.
- Conduct site surveys to identify system requirements and potential upgrades.
- Read and interpret floor plans, one-line drawings, scopes of work, specifications, submittals, and test reports.
- Configure and troubleshoot basic network and device connectivity.
- Use low-voltage crimping tools, meters, toners, and other testing and construction tools.
- Follow proper cabling practices and applicable codes and standards.
- Perform fire stopping on penetrations made or identified during work.
- Provide professional customer service in person, by phone, email, and other communication methods.
- Work independently while also collaborating effectively with a team.
- Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in sensitive environments.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2–4 years of experience with installation, service, and commissioning of low-voltage/data communication systems.
- Experience with security systems, including CCTV/video surveillance, access control, intrusion detection, and wireless communications.
- Experience with low-voltage infrastructure, cabling, and terminations.
- Knowledge of applicable state/local codes and BICSI standards.
- Service, construction, or related industry experience.
- Massachusetts Class D Security Systems Technician License – REQUIRED for MA security work.
- OSHA 10 certification.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Reliable transportation.
- Ability to travel throughout New England, including MA, RI, CT, NH, and ME.
- Ability to work off-hours when required, including evenings, overnight shifts, and weekends.
- Ability to participate in an on-call rotation.
Preferred System Experience
- Experience with one or more of the following systems: Client Pro-Watch, Software House, AMAG, Genetec, DMP, Avigilon, Hirsch, LenelS2, Bosch, Milestone, Ceragon, Cambium, Siklu.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with integrated security systems in detention facilities, prisons, courts, or other sensitive environments.
- Industry or manufacturer certifications.
- Rhode Island TST Data License.
- Firestop certification, such as Hilti or 3M.
- Boom lift or scissor lift certification.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to see and hear clearly and distinguish colors, with or without correction.
- Ability to use hands and arms for reaching, handling, pulling cables, and operating tools.
- Ability to climb ladders, lifts, and scaffolding while maintaining balance.
- Ability to lift, carry, or push up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to crouch, stand, and walk for extended periods while carrying equipment.
- Ability to work in varying temperature conditions throughout the year.
- Ability to wear required safety equipment and PPE at all times.
