Systems Specialist (Lighting and AV Control)

Luna Lux is a premier lighting design, AV design, media production, and equipment rental and procurement company founded in 2012. We provide lighting and AV design services for museum exhibitions, theme parks, live events, activations, and experiential industries.

Our design studio and central warehouse are located in Dallas, TX. We have representation in Houston, Los Angeles, New York City, Chicago, and Washington, D.C., allowing us to serve North America from coast to coast. Our European headquarters are located in Dublin, Ireland.

In addition to our Lighting and AV services, we also offer Media Production, including concept design, content design, and media production.

The Systems Specialist will work with project design leads for AV and lighting to develop comprehensive control systems. The specialist is expected to participate in creating drawings, schedules, and specification packages. The specialist will communicate with design leads and understand project objectives, work with design staff to develop deliverables, and potentially assist in on‑site installation supervision, integration, and programming. Depending on project bandwidth, the specialist may be required to use ladders and lifts for control equipment installation and provide support to other designers as needed.

Job Responsibilities
  • Participate and lead control design projects.
  • Coordinate with Lighting and AV design leads and internal design team to produce milestone deliverables.
  • Support other lead designers.
  • Provide equipment research and communicate with manufacturers.
  • Create schedules, reports, and specification packages.
  • Attend project meetings and provide meeting agendas and notes as needed.
  • Perform QAQC on all client deliverables.
  • Travel to project sites and client meetings as required.
  • Continuously pursue professional development and education for emerging technologies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Capabilities
  • Theater, Film/TV, Theme Park, and/or Museum Design and Specification experience.
  • Expertise in 3D drafting using Vectorworks or AutoCAD.
  • Working knowledge of theatrical control design.
  • Understanding of architectural and facility requirements and integration of control equipment into an attraction, museum, or live event.
  • Understanding of the creative process.
  • Ability to read architectural blueprints and interpret electrical drawings.
  • 3+ years of experience in control and show design.
  • Ability to deliver on a project’s established scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Strong understanding of current technology and industry standards for all aspects of control design, as applied to live show and facility infrastructure systems.
  • Ability to work flexible hours—including nights, weekends, holidays.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or G Suite.
  • Excellent communication skills, highly motivated, can accept direction easily.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).
Desired Capabilities
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign).
  • Experience with Lightwright.
  • Ability to work closely with all relevant staff to prioritize, organize, instruct, and problem‑solve during installation, content integration, and programming.
  • Estimated travel of 50%.

The Systems Specialist reports to the Director of Systems.

Travel: Domestic and international; requirement to have a valid passport with no travel restrictions or be able to obtain one within six weeks after employment.

Preferred locations: Candidates residing in California, Illinois, New York, and Texas.

Job Location

This is a full‑time permanent remote position, with preference given to candidates located in CA, IL, NY, and TX.
