Job summary

Delaware Nation Industries in New York seeks a Systems Security Engineer II to support the AFRL base cybersecurity team across vulnerability management, threat defense, and governance. You will identify and address security vulnerabilities, monitor systems, and communicate findings to stakeholders.

The role requires an Active Secret clearance, Security+ or DoD 8140-aligned cert, and 5+ years in cybersecurity or related fields.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Support vulnerability management activities including scanning, tracking, mitigation, and remediation.
• Support threat defense activities including intrusion detection, protection, and SIEM log/event correlation.
• Assist with governance and compliance activities including policy implementation, documentation, and audits.
• Document work and maintain records using ticketing systems, asset management tools, and Microsoft Office.
• Communicate security findings, actions and status updates to stakeholders.
• Manage multiple priorities with limited supervision across the environment.

Job description

The Systems Security Engineer II supports the AFRL base cybersecurity team across vulnerability management, threat defense, and cybersecurity governance and compliance. This position helps identify and address security vulnerabilities, monitor and protect systems, support compliance activities, and communicate findings and status to the appropriate stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Support vulnerability management activities, including vulnerability scanning, identification, tracking, mitigation, and remediation.
• Support threat defense activities, including intrusion detection and protection and SIEM log and event correlation.
• Assist with cybersecurity governance and compliance activities, including policy implementation, documentation, and audit support.
• Document work and maintain accurate records using ticketing systems, IT asset management tools, Microsoft Office applications, and other required software.
• Communicate security-related findings, actions, and status updates to appropriate stakeholders.
• Manage multiple priorities, work independently, and support program needs across the assigned environment.

• Active Secret security clearance
• Security+ or an equivalent DoD 8140-aligned certification.
• Five or more years of experience in computer support, IT customer service, cybersecurity, or a related field, including direct experience with cybersecurity functions.
• Working knowledge of computer hardware, software, networking, and common cybersecurity practices.
• Experience or familiarity with vulnerability management, threat defense, SIEM log and event correlation, governance, compliance, or auditing.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, listening skills, and written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize work, and operate effectively with limited supervision.
• Experience with government IT asset management systems is preferred.
• An associate or bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity, information technology, computer science, or a related field is preferred.
