Job summary

SAIC is seeking a Systems Safety Engineer in Middletown, RI to analyze systems for hazards, assess risk, and propose mitigations. The role involves working with internal teams, government personnel, and subcontractors.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science (or higher) in engineering or a technical-related field.
Two or more years of experience in systems safety.
US Citizen with ability to obtain SECRET clearance; SAIC will sponsor clearance.
Familiarity with safety standards and system safety principles.
Familiarity with safety assessment of hardware, software, waivers, and exemptions.

Responsibilities

Perform safety analyses per MIL-STD-882E and related guidance.
Analyze hardware, software, firmware, and interfaces to identify hazards.
Review requirements to identify hazardous conditions and suggest design changes.
Conduct operational analyses to identify deficiencies in procedures and handling.
Review safety management data, accident reports, and safety test results.
Prepare risk and safety assessment reports and presentations for submission.
Assess safety for new or modified hardware/software and waivers.
