Job summary

The role emphasizes risk assessments, formal safety analyses, and regulatory compliance to ensure safe test operations. Responsibilities include conducting FMEA, FTA, PHA, and HAZOP studies, documenting findings, and providing safety recommendations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, or Chemistry.
• 10 years of engineering experience; alternatively 8 years with a qualifying degree.
• Two years of experience directly related to safety of military systems and ordnance, including risk assessments, hazard analyses, fault tree analyses, safety recommendations, and structured safety methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Provide evaluations of system safety issues and define safety assessment tests for new and ongoing operations.
• Conduct and document formal safety analyses including FMEA, FTA, PHA, HAZOP, software safety analysis.
• Evaluate system design, engineering analyses, and operational documents; make recommendations related to safety releases and risk.
• Maintain knowledge of DoD, MDA, NASA, OSHA, Army/Aviation safety standards and assess operational impact.
• Evaluate new test operations, perform hazard assessments, inspect test sites, and recommend improvements.
• Prepare detailed reports for safety analyses, evaluations, and past test-incident investigations.
