Type: 12-Month Contract (High likelihood of extension)
Work Authorization: US Citizens or Permanent Residents only (No sponsorship available)
Role Overview
We are seeking an analytical QA Engineer to validate, evaluate, and continuously improve advanced rail technology systems integrating electrical, mechanical, software, networking, controls, and AI components. In this role, you will own field system behavior—driving verification and validation, hands-on electromechanical troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and process optimization across engineering and field operations.
Responsibilities:
- Testing & Validation: Develop and execute test plans, cases, and acceptance criteria for functional, integration, regression, system, and failure-condition testing across hardware, software, sensors, actuators, and AI models.
- Defect Management: Identify, reproduce, document, track, and validate resolution of system defects.
- Electromechanical Troubleshooting: Diagnose electrical and electromechanical issues using schematics, multimeters, scopes, signal generators, line/fiber continuity tools, and system data.
- Data & Process Analysis: Perform root cause analysis (5 Whys, Pareto, FMEA, DMAIC) and analyze operational data to address recurring failure trends and improve quality, safety, throughput, and reliability.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with electrical, mechanical, software, AI, DevSecOps, and field operations teams to resolve complex system issues.
- Documentation: Produce clear technical reports, investigation summaries, test results, and improvement recommendations.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience: 5+ years in quality engineering, systems testing, process/manufacturing engineering, or industrial automation.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Continuous Improvement: Six Sigma Black Belt or formal training in Lean / Continuous Improvement methodologies.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in electromechanical systems, reading electrical schematics, hands-on diagnostic tools (scopes, meters, continuity tools), and structured problem-solving.
- Travel & Location: Must live in Atlanta, GA and be willing to travel 20–25% within the eastern U.S. for field testing and diagnostics.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with industrial automation, robotics, machine vision, PLCs, or complex physical systems.
- Familiarity with reading basic C++ code or software logic (coding expertise not required).
- Background in process mapping, time studies, or automation opportunity assessment.
- Hands-on experience with data analysis tools (Excel, SQL, Python, MATLAB).
- Familiarity with automated testing, scripting, CI/CD, DevSecOps, or testing AI/ML-driven adaptive systems.
- Dual Computer/Electrical Engineering background or Military experience.
