Job summary

Systems in Motion, Atlanta, GA, seeks a Systems Project Engineer to provide final detailed review, engineering, and recommendations after a Purchase Order is received. You will ensure the project scope aligns with customer requirements and budget.

Responsibilities include analyzing equipment performance, developing detailed SOWs, documenting specifications, selecting vendors, and preparing drawings for approvals and installation.

Qualifications

• BSME Mechanical Engineering, BSEE Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
• Experience reading drawings and visualizing details in three dimensions.
• Strong attention to detail and thorough documentation.
• Knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment installation.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Leadership ability to guide the estimating group.

Responsibilities

• Analyze equipment against desired function while managing scope and budget.
• Develop detailed SOW covering mechanical, electrical, controls, and WCS.
• Document final engineered specifications for implementation and operation.
• Select vendors and document intended use.
• Prepare drawings for approvals, permits, and installation.
• Coordinate with vendors and project team on needs and deliverables.
• Provide project documentation and support to the PM group.
• Foster proactive communication between departments to minimize errors.
• Prioritize workload and respond timely to all teams.
• Work with Sales to finalize concepts meeting customer investments.
• Develop operation descriptions with electrical vendors.

About the Role

Position Summary The purpose of the Systems Project Engineering is to provide final detailed review, engineering, and recommendations for the specific application upon formal receipt of a Purchase Order.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed analysis for equipment sold against desired function, and adjust, change as needed while maintaining scope and budget.
• Develop detailed SOW (mechanical, electrical, Controls, and WCS functionality).
• Document final detailed engineered specifications to insure successful implementation and operation, and function.
• Select vendors, defining, finalizing, and documenting the intended use.
• Prepare detailed drawing packages, for Approval, Permits, & Installation.
• Specify equipment and consult with vendors on project needs and deliverables.
• Provide all project documentation and project support to the PM group for project management and implementation.
• Coordination- Facilitate effective communication and efficient resource deployment within the department as well as within the organization.
• Insure a pro-active communication process back to sales team is in place so concepts, ideas, designs, etc can be implemented up-stream to minimize repeatable errors and great ideas can be used as a competitive advantage during the sales cycle.
• Prioritizing workload effectively and responding to all teams in a timely fashion.
• Execution- Ensure the commitments are fulfilled. This includes working with the Sales Team to finalize concepts to meet customer investment.
• Develop a description of operation and work with electrical control vendors to finalize.

Qualifications

• BSME Mechanical Engineering, BSEE Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.

Required Skills

• Ability to read drawings and visualize details in three dimensions.
• Attention to detail required.
• Knowledge of mechanical equipment, electrical equipment and their installation.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication abilities.
• Possess excellent leadership skills and have the ability to effectively lead employees in the estimating group.

Preferred Skills

• 3+ yrs. with a conveyor manufacturer and/or systems integrator.
• Valid Driver's License.
• SolidWorks, AutoCAD, PMP, PE or other professional certification a plus.
• Basic computer knowledge, Excel, Word, Outlook, Internet, QuickBooks, AutoCAD.
• Understanding of pneumatic and controls application.
