Job summary

Tom Trese Networking LLC is seeking a Sr. Project Engineer to guide the full life cycle of customized automated production equipment from concept to completion.

You will lead design teams, coordinate with contractors, and manage resources, timelines, and milestones across projects involving robotics, vision systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and high-speed assembly.

Qualifications

• BSME or similar degree.
• 5+ years of project design experience for fully customized automated production equipment.
• SolidWorks proficiency.
• Experience with welding, fixture design and GD&T.
• Experience with robotics, vision systems, data acquisition is desirable.
• Direct experience with customers and suppliers is desirable.
• Strong interpersonal verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to manage/group large projects to a timeline.

Responsibilities

• Own the overall design of custom automated machines contracted for a client.
• Lead a design team and coordinate with external design contractors on large projects.
• Break down design work into tasks, set timelines and milestones, and ensure accountability.
• Regularly communicate project status to customers and management.

Our client design and manufactures fully customized automated assembly equipment for their customers and they need a Sr. Project Engineer. You will be responsible for taking a project from concept to completion. This includes understanding all technical issues potentially affecting your project such customer specifications, cycle times, pneumatics, hydraulics, etc. Continually assess the impact of these issues to your project and facilitate corrective action, maintain project budget, and engineering design release schedule integrity. You will report to the Mechanical Engineering Manager.

What you will be doing:

• Responsible for the overall design of a custom automated machine contracted for by a client. If a smaller project you may do this on your own or if it is a larger project, lead a team of Design Engineers and outside design contractors.
• Manage resources and breakdown the design effort for large projects into manageable design tasks and clearly communicate the design time, tasks, timeline, and milestones to your team and hold them accountable.
• Your designs may incorporate robotics, vision systems, welding, fixtures, controls, material handling, laser or plasma cutting, hydraulics, pneumatics, high-speed product assembly, and packaging
• Communicate regularly the status of your projects with customers and the management team

• BSME or similar degree with strong mechanical design skills
• 5+ years of project design experience for fully customized automated production equipment (NOT a base product that can be slightly modified for the customer)
• You must know SolidWorks
• You must have experience with welding, fixture design and GD&T
• Any experience with robotics, vision systems, computer controls, data acquisition experience is desirable.
• Direct experience working with customers and suppliers is desirable
• Interpersonal verbal and written communication skills are extremely important
• Proven success managing, facilitating, or controlling a group of people or large project to a timeline and schedule is desirable
• Good computer skills are needed
