Job summary

TM Floyd & Company is seeking an experienced Systems Programmer III to join the DBS team supporting a large enterprise mainframe environment. This is a hands-on Db2 for z/OS role for someone who understands not only Db2, but how enterprise systems, applications, infrastructure, and database teams work together.

The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, be confident and collaborative, and be willing to mentor others.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of Systems Programming experience.
• Hands-on IBM Mainframe and Db2 for z/OS expertise.
• Experience supporting mid-to-large enterprise environments.
• Strong understanding of database management, system performance and production ops.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, configure, and optimize IBM Db2 for z/OS.
• Perform Db2 subsystem administration and performance tuning.
• Support upgrades, migrations, high availability, and disaster recovery.
• Troubleshoot production issues and participate in 24x7 on-call rotation.
• Mentor and support mid-level and junior team members.
• Create strong documentation and share knowledge across the team.

TM Floyd & Company is seeking an experienced Systems Programmer III to join a close-knit Database Systems Programming (DBS) team supporting a large enterprise mainframe environment. This is a hands-on Db2 Systems Programmer role for someone who understands not only Db2, but how enterprise systems, applications, infrastructure, and database teams work together.

The Ideal Candidate

We're looking for someone who can hit the ground running, bring deep technical expertise, and see the bigger picture beyond Db2 alone. You should be confident, collaborative, curious, and willing to investigate complex issues and develop sustainable solutions. This is an opportunity for someone who wants to become a long-term member of the team, with potential for a multi-year contract and conversion after 1–2 years.

What You’ll Do

• Install, maintain, configure, and optimize IBM Db2 for z/OS
• Perform Db2 subsystem administration and performance tuning
• Support upgrades, migrations, high availability, and disaster recovery
• Troubleshoot production issues and participate in 24x7 on-call rotation
• Analyze system changes and their impact on production environments
• Work closely with DBAs, application teams, infrastructure teams, and other technical groups
• Help implement new technologies and improve system stability and performance
• Mentor and support mid-level and junior team members
• Create strong documentation and share knowledge across the team

What We’re Looking For

• 5–10 years of Systems Programming experience
• Strong IBM Mainframe background
• Hands-on Db2 for z/OS expertise
• Experience supporting mid-to-large enterprise environments
• Strong understanding of database management, system performance, and production operations
• Experience with database monitoring/management tools, such as IBM, BMC, Broadcom, Omegamon, or similar
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent communication and documentation skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams
• Comfortable mentoring less-experienced technical staff

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, OR equivalent relevant experience.
