Job summary

Meta is seeking a Software Engineer, Systems ML - Compilers/Backend, to develop a clean-slate compiler for AR/VR hardware accelerators. You will integrate with teams of compiler, ML, software, firmware, and ASIC experts to compile PyTorch models to binaries for custom blocks.

The role emphasizes optimizing passes, analyzing ML graphs for power and latency, and co-designing features with hardware architects to advance on-device AI in Reality Labs.

Qualifications

• Must have a bachelor’s degree in CS/CE or equivalent.
• At least 2+ years of experience in compilers, toolchains, or code optimization.
• Strong Python and/or C/C++ development, debugging and performance analysis.
• Experience with AI frameworks and accelerating models on hardware.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and design compiler passes and optimizations; implement code generation for ML accelerators.
• Map ML graphs to hardware, analyze data flows, and estimate silicon power and performance.
• Collaborate with hardware architects to maximize performance and programmability.
• Contribute to ML libraries, IRs, export formats, and analysis tools.
• Improve toolchain scalability, tune kernels for ML inference latency.
• Conduct design and code reviews; diagnose and resolve cross-disciplinary issues.
• Interface with other compiler teams to share innovations.
