Job summary

Acentra Health is seeking a Systems Manager to lead day-to-day IT staff and oversee the delivery of application support for a complex Medicaid MMIS system in Montgomery, AL. This onsite role requires residency within commuting distance and the ability to work onsite up to four days per week.

You will provide leadership across all delivery phases, mentor team members, and ensure on-time project execution while applying HIPAA, security, and industry best practices to support our public sector

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in IT/computing.
  • 8+ years supervising Medicaid systems design and MMIS.
  • Willing to be onsite from Montgomery, AL up to 4 days a week.
  • Experience with SDLC and STLC.
  • Proficient in programming languages, operating systems, databases, and cloud tech.
  • Knowledge of version control and defect management tools.
  • Experience in project management and creating project plans.
  • Strong communication and leadership in cross-functional teams.

Job Summary

Acentra Health is looking for a Systems Manager to join our growing team.

This is an onsite position and requires that the candidate must live within a commutable distance from Montgomery, AL, and be able to work onsite up to 4 days a week.

As the Systems Manager, you will manage day‑to‑day assigned IT staff (Business Analysts, Systems Analysts, Developers, Testing staff, etc.) and oversee the delivery of application support and maintenance for this complex Medicaid system. You will provide leadership and direction to the team members across all aspects of delivery.

Responsibilities
  • Act as primary technical contact with Client
  • Day‑to‑day liaison with the state Client and stakeholders
  • Hire and train system maintenance and modification staff
  • Develop and manage procedures for routine maintenance
  • Provide day‑to‑day supervision of all assigned team members and work independently of supervision from senior management
  • Manage the support and maintenance of operational systems for Medicaid/MMIS project life cycle across projects/programs
  • Serve as a liaison between the client and other area resources across the full project life cycle
  • Provide leadership and direction across the enterprise business to ensure project/program delivery on time
  • Support functional and management teams to make product and solution decisions by collaborating with cross‑functional subject matter experts / specialists as needed
  • Apply communication skills, problem‑solving skills, and knowledge of industry best practices to guide the assigned team members on issues related to project/program delivery
  • Enforce the use of best practices and hold team accountable for adhering to those practices
  • Set attainable goals for team members to meet client and project commitments
  • Recommend new processes where needed to improve quality, cost, or on‑time delivery
  • Read, understand, and adhere to all corporate policies including policies related to HIPAA and its Privacy and Security Rules
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or master's degree related IT
  • 8+ years supervisory experience in Medicaid systems design, development and implementation (DDI)
  • 8+ years of recent experience managing DDI work within multiple functional areas of MMIS
  • Must live within a commutable distance from Montgomery, AL and be able to work onsite up to 4 days a week
  • Experience with software development life cycle (SDLC) and software testing life cycle (STLC)
  • Well versed in programming languages, operating systems, databases and cloud technologies
  • Knowledge of version control and defect management tools
  • Experience in project management and ability to create and manage project plans
  • Ability to communicate and translate technical impacts, technical solutions, root cause, and corrective actions into business concepts or layman’s terms and make presentations
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and proven ability to work effectively with different teams’ contributors both directly and in a matrix environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of and understanding of AI
  • Understanding of System Operations and Maintenance processes
  • Ability to meet and enforce deadlines, conduct research into technology issues and products, and take initiative in the development and completion of projects
  • Demonstrated problem‑solving, analytical, and evaluative skills

Pay Range

USD $144,000.00 - USD $180,000.00 /Yr.

Experience in Lieu of Degree

For non‑clinical roles, or when not required by the contract specifically, the Company acknowledges that practical, hands‑on experience can provide skills and competencies equivalent to formal education. As such, in cases where a Bachelor's degree may be required, the Company will accept a minimum of six (6) years of directly relevant professional experience in lieu of a degree. In instances where the candidate has an Associate's degree, the Company will accept a minimum of three (3) years of directly relevant professional experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree.
