Job summary

Municipality of Anchorage, Information Technology Department, seeks a Systems Management Engineer to ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of in-house IT systems. The role focuses on monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing Windows clients, servers, and related operating systems.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma plus substantial experience or an associate/bachelor/master in CS or business, plus CJIS background check and Alaska driver’s license.

Example of Duties

The position's role is to ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the in-house information systems that support core organizational functions. This is achieved by monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all Microsoft Windows clients, servers, and associated operating systems. The Systems Management Engineer will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments. This position is responsible for and manages the operation and configuration of system tools for management of the Microsoft infrastructure.

Military Service Interview Preference

Veterans who wish to be considered for interview preference, as permitted in Municipal Personnel Rules 3.30.031 D, must attach to the application a copy of their DD Form 214, DD Form 256, NGB Form 22, or a letter from the US Department of Veterans Affairs, recognizing the person as a veteran.
