Job summary

Leidos in Bethesda, MD is seeking a Systems Integration & Support Engineer to configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux-based, networked, and virtualized systems. You will deploy VMs, write Bash scripts, and run containerized workloads with Kubernetes, Rancher, and RKE2 to support sonar tactical decision aids for the U.S. Navy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
• 1 year of hands-on technical experience supporting, configuring, or troubleshooting Linux-based or networked systems.
• Working knowledge of Linux and command-line troubleshooting.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, addressing, connectivity).
• Experience with Bash, Python, or another scripting language for automation.
• Familiarity with virtualization and/or container technologies from professional/academic work.
• Ability to troubleshoot software, hardware, or network issues and identify root causes.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain/maintain a Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Configure and maintain software applications and system components in Linux-based, networked, and virtualized environments.
• Create, configure, and manage Virtual Machines supporting deployment, testing, and operations.
• Perform Linux system administration tasks including configuration, user/service management, logs, and maintenance.
• Develop and maintain Bash scripts for automation and troubleshooting.
• Deploy and maintain containerized applications using Kubernetes and related technologies.
• Support Kubernetes environments via Rancher and RKE2.
• Use Ansible to automate configuration, deployment, and admin tasks.
• Install, configure, test, and deploy software updates and system releases.
• Troubleshoot system issues across software, hardware, networking, and virtualization layers.
• Coordinate with developers, network engineers, and admins for specialized issues.
