Qualifications

Job Title: Electronics Technician – Digital Tower Systems

This role focuses on building, configuring, and testing advanced electronics and networked systems that support a newly certified Digital Tower technology for aviation. You will assemble subcomponents and finished products, configure computer clients, servers, and switches, and perform detailed inspections to ensure systems meet strict quality and performance standards. Working closely with engineers and test personnel in an engineering and lab environment, you will help bring innovative camera, sensor, and voice communications solutions to life, contributing directly to a rapidly growing technology with significant opportunity for impact and career development.

Responsibilities
  • Build, test, and troubleshoot electronic subassemblies and finished products using layouts, wiring diagrams, and written instructions.
  • Configure computer clients, servers, switches, and routers in a network environment to support telecommunications and Digital Tower systems.
  • Perform system and subassembly inspections to verify that all quality requirements and specifications are met.
  • Assist personnel performing Acceptance Test duties in collaboration with customer representatives, ensuring systems operate as intended.
  • Help diagnose system or unit problems, identify root causes, and suggest and implement improvements to production processes.
  • Support engineers in performing and validating test procedures, providing feedback on test results and system performance.
  • Build prototype hardware and new design assemblies as required by engineering, following documented assembly techniques and configuration guidelines.
  • Use command prompts and related tools to load and configure software applications on client and server computers.
  • Document system configurations used to assemble and test telecommunications equipment, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Work safely and efficiently in an engineering and lab environment, handling electronic hardware, power supplies, and network equipment with care.
Essential Skills
  • 2-year technical degree in electronics, telecommunications, computer technology, or a closely related field.
  • Knowledge of AC/DC electrical system connections and electronic hardware assembly techniques.
  • Experience assembling and testing telecommunications equipment using system configuration documentation.
  • Working knowledge of computer hardware, software, and peripherals, including experience loading software applications on client and server computers.
  • Hands-on experience with Windows Servers and network switches and routers.
  • Ability to use command prompts to configure systems and perform diagnostic tasks.
  • Familiarity with configuring and working with switches, routers, and related network devices.
  • Ability to read and interpret layouts, wiring diagrams, and written instructions for electronic assemblies.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for diagnosing system and unit-level issues in electronic and networked systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with Cisco switches and Cisco routers.
  • Familiarity with security concepts and certifications such as Security+.
  • Comfort using tools such as Putty and Win-PCM for configuration and testing.
  • Understanding of power supply systems and their integration into electronic assemblies.
  • Experience working in an engineering or laboratory environment with complex hardware and test equipment.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, test personnel, and customer representatives.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high quality standards in assembly and testing.
Work Environment

The role is based in an engineering and lab environment focused on advanced Digital Tower technology, combining cameras, sensors, and voice communications to create digital control tower systems. You will work with electronic hardware, AC/DC power supplies, Windows Servers, switches, routers, and specialized tools such as Putty and Win-PCM in a structured, technical setting. The position follows a standard 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday. The environment emphasizes precision, documentation, and collaboration, with access to modern equipment and the opportunity to support a rapidly growing and expanding technology. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbia, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $40.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
