Job summary

DAn Solutions in Reston, VA is seeking a Systems Integration Engineer to design, develop, integrate, and sustain complex data flows across multiple systems. The role emphasizes Apache NiFi and Python to move data securely between environments and to integrate with remote APIs.

Location: Reston, VA

We are seeking a Systems Integration Engineer to support the design, development, integration, and sustainment of complex data flows across a variety of systems and devices. This position will work extensively with Apache NiFi and Python to engineer and maintain data flows that meet customer requirements, integrate with remote APIs, and securely move data across multiple environments.

The Systems Integration Engineer will also develop Grafana dashboards to provide visibility into data flow metrics and infrastructure health, troubleshoot existing integrations, identify opportunities for optimization, and maintain comprehensive technical documentation and data-flow diagrams.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and sustain complex data flows from multiple sources using Apache NiFi.
• Develop Python-based solutions for complex data manipulation, transformation, and integration requirements.
• Use Apache NiFi and custom Python scripts to retrieve data from remote APIs, transform and process the data, and distribute it according to customer requirements.
• Modernize legacy Java implementations by developing comprehensive Python-based solutions using current libraries and frameworks.
• Build and maintain Grafana dashboards to visualize data flow metrics, system performance, and infrastructure status.
• Analyze existing data flows to identify inefficiencies, performance issues, and opportunities for optimization.
• Design secure cross-domain data channels to facilitate data movement between networks operating at different security levels.
• Interface with RESTful APIs and other external data sources and endpoints.
• Create and maintain detailed diagrams of new and existing data flows using Microsoft Visio.
• Participate in weekly Engineering Review Board meetings and provide technical input regarding internal and customer-submitted change requests.
• Review and evaluate change request documentation for technical accuracy, completeness, and feasibility.
• Develop detailed technical documentation and effectively present proposed changes and solutions to technical leadership.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a field applicable to the position and six (6) years of relevant experience.
  • An additional four (4) years of relevant experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree.
• Proficiency with the Linux command-line interface.
• Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language, preferably Python.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a technical team.
• Must be DoD 8570 IAT Level II compliant by the date of security indoctrination, including any required Computing Environment (CE) certification.
• Strong technical documentation skills, including experience developing detailed change request documentation and presenting technical information to leadership for review and approval.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience designing, developing, and sustaining data flows using Apache NiFi.
• Working knowledge of networking concepts and technologies, including routers, firewalls, DNS, DHCP, subnetting, VPNs, and web proxies.
• Experience designing, integrating with, or utilizing RESTful APIs.
• Experience administering or maintaining both Windows and Linux operating environments.
• Familiarity with relational SQL databases, including Oracle, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
• Foundational knowledge of Active Directory, including Organizational Units (OUs) and Security Groups.
• Experience with Grafana, Ansible, VMware, Nutanix, or Cross Domain Solutions is a plus.

Salary Range Disclaimer: The posted salary range represents the good-faith minimum and maximum compensation DAn Solutions expects to pay for this position. The position may be filled at different Labor Category (LCAT) levels depending on the selected candidate's qualifications and applicable contract requirements. Final compensation within the posted range will be determined based on the applicable LCAT and factors including education, relevant experience, certifications, and other required qualifications
