The Advanced Navigators Engineering & Sciences team is looking for you to join our team as a Systems Engineering Manager 2 based out of Woodland Hills, CA. Your group of systems and integration & test engineers ensures our customers’ needs are captured in requirements and those requirements are verified. Additionally, your team is responsible for executing systems engineering activities against the estimated cost and schedule baseline.

This position is a dual role with approximately 20% time allocated to managing the team of engineers and 80% of time executing SEIT tasks on programs.

The functional manager provides personnel management of a group of SEIT engineers including career development, goal setting, performance reviews, and salary planning.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate, create, and review proposal inputs for project engineering and SEIT activities
  • Develop and maintain processes related to project engineering and SEIT activities
  • Review program and business staffing forecasts and align resource plans with forecasts.
  • Lead trade studies to develop conceptual and preliminary designs to structure the requirements for a solution to customer navigation and timing needs.
  • Present at major gate reviews to customers and senior program and technical leadership throughout the life cycle of navigation systems.
  • Develop and maintain requirements for the next generation of navigation systems and their sub-assemblies.
  • Provide guidance and technical leadership to the design teams as they instantiate those requirements into mechanical and electrical subsystems.
  • Implement verification strategies to show those designs are compliant to the requirements and can be validated in real-world use.
  • Develop and implement strong processes with emphasis on quantitative management and continuous improvement.
  • Generate and respond to performance metrics related to SEIT execution and system Key Performance Parameters.
  • Ensure organizational compliance with corporate/sector/organizational policies/procedures.
  • Achieve cost, schedule, and technical performance against the contract baseline.

This position is contingent upon the ability to obtain or maintain an active DoD Secret clearance

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other related discipline and a minimum of 8 years of progressively increasing responsibility and engineering experience or a master’s degree in Engineering or other related discipline and a minimum of 6 years of progressively increasing engineering experience
  • Ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret Clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • A proven track record of leading a team of engineers and of establishing strong relationships with other functional organizations and Program Offices.
  • Demonstrated strong written and oral communications skills.
  • Experience with DOORS for requirements development and configuration management.
  • Experience with MS Project for Integrated Master Schedule development and maintenance.
  • Earned Value Management experience.
  • Experience with requirements verification and validation.
  • Ability to work onsite full-time at the Woodland Hills, CA site

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experienced in metrics-based cost estimating and the use of prior actual costs to support Basis of Estimates (BOEs) for engineering estimates.
  • Master’s degree in an Engineering discipline.
  • Experience in the development of military airborne electronics.
  • Navigation technology development experience.
  • Working knowledge of Model-Based Engineering methods and tools.
  • Current Secret Clearance.
