Job summary

SciTec Incorporated in Boulder, CO seeks a Senior/Principal Systems Engineering Lead to guide an integrated systems engineering and modeling team. You will elaborate operational concepts, refine requirements, and craft architectural designs for a hardware/software data processing system in a MOSA framework.

The role requires a STEM degree and 10+ years in software engineering or related fields, with MBSE and IEEE 15288 experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline.
• At least 10 years of relevant work experience in software engineering, high-performance computing, or remote sensing data processing.
• Experience executing IEEE 15288 systems engineering processes.
• Familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering in a systems engineering organization.
• Demonstrated experience as a technical team leader.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with the program office and end-users to elicit and document operational concepts for MOSA hosting high-performance data processing applications.
• Develop and analyze system requirements addressing stakeholder needs.
• Support design of architectures that meet requirements and align with customer concepts of operations.
• Coordinate with integration, verification, and test teams for verification and validation.
• Document operational concepts, stakeholder needs, requirements, and architectures using MBSE tools.
• Mentor staff and drive process improvement within the systems engineering team.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
• Provide additional duties as required.

SciTec has an immediate opportunity in our Boulder, CO office for a Senior / Principal Systems Engineering Lead with experience in microservices architectures, data center designs, and modular open systems architecture. This engineer will be responsible for leading an integrated systems engineering and systems modeling team to elaborate operational concepts, refine requirements, and create architectural designs to support the delivery of a combined hardware/software data processing system. This work will be performed collaboratively with both customer representatives and with SciTec technical staff.

Responsibilities

• Coordination with the acquisition program office and operational end-users to elicit, detail, and document operational concepts and stakeholder needs for the operation of a MOSA architecture hosting high-performance data processing applications.

• Development and analysis of system requirements which address identified stakeholder needs.

• Support to SciTec development teams in the design of system architectures which meet established requirements and align with customer concepts of operations.

• Coordination with integration, verification, and test teams to support requirements verification and validation.

• Managing the documentation of operational concepts, stakeholder needs, system requirements, and system architectures using Model-Based Systems Engineering tools

• Staff mentoring and process improvement within the SciTec systems engineering team

• Additional duties as required and assigned

• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance

• A Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline

• At least 10 years of relevant work experience in software engineering, high-performance computing, or remote sensing data processing

• Demonstrated work experience in executing IEEE 15288 systems engineering processes

• Demonstrated familiarity with the use of Model Based Systems Engineering within a systems engineering organization

• Demonstrated work experience as a technical team leader

Candidates who have any of the following skills will be preferred

• A current security clearance, ideally a current TOP SECRET clearance with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information

• Academic credentials or industry certification (e.g. INCOSE) in systems engineering.

• Experience with the design or operation of data center environments

• Experience with the design or operation of Kubernetes-based environments

• Experience with the design or operation of Overhead Persistent Infrared sensor systems, ground segments, or exploitation tooling

• Experience with system security architecture and NIST 800-53 / RMF compliance

• Experience with conducting data-driven trade studies, including the development and use of simulation tools.

• Direct familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering tools and techniques. Familiarity with the Cameo suite of tools is particularly desired.

The pay range for this position is $156,000- $235,000 / year. SciTec considers several factors when extending an offer of employment, including but not limited to the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
