Job summary

Leidos is seeking a motivated Systems Engineering Intern based at Ft Meade, Maryland to support a complex, multi-year contract providing mission‑critical engineering support to the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA).

This internship would start May 2027 and offers hands‑on experience across enterprise IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and cross‑domain technologies, with mentorship from senior engineers in a fast‑paced environment.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited degree program in a technical field (CS/IT/SE/Cybersecurity).
• Active DoD 8140/8570 IAT Level II certification prior to May 2027 internship start date.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).

Responsibilities

• Learn & Support: assist senior engineers with IT infra design, build and maintenance.
• Virtualization: gain hands-on exposure to VMware/ESXi environments.
• Cybersecurity in Action: apply DISA STIGs to keep systems secure.
• Hands-on IT: assist with lab hardware setup and cable runs.
• Automation: write basic scripts to speed deployment.
• Documentation & Diagramming: update baselines and create network diagrams in Visio.
• Troubleshooting: participate in system testing and issue resolution.
• Collaboration: join meetings with mission partners to translate requirements into solutions.
