Job summary

Graphcore is seeking a system validation engineering intern to help drive post-silicon validation for next‑generation AI infrastructure hardware. You will work on server blades and racks, developing tests, automating validation, and debugging across silicon, firmware, systems, and platform teams.

The role focuses on end-to-end validation, collaborating with firmware, silicon, and system engineering teams to ensure readiness and quality at scale.

Qualifications

• Working towards a Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Demonstrated passion to learn and gain experience in large-scale server or AI infrastructure hardware validation environments.
• Exposure to hardware validation or debugging on x86 or ARM server systems, racks, or embedded validation.
• Understanding of CPU/GPU, memory, IO, and BIOS testing concepts.
• Experience with Linux/server OS and automation using Python/Bash.
• Familiar with CI/CD pipelines and large-scale test automation infrastructures.

Responsibilities

• Help drive and execute post-silicon validation goals for AI compute blades and racks, including testcase planning, development, and automation.
• Assist in validation testcase execution and system debug against program achievements; report validation progress and risks.
• Assist provisioning and integration of system components (SoC FW, BMC, RMC, OS) for rack-level readiness.
• Triage test failures, collect debug data, and collaborate on root-cause analysis.
• Track validation coverage and contribute to improving test processes and infrastructure.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a system validation engineering intern to help drive server blade and rack validation efforts for next-generation AI infrastructure hardware systems. This role focuses on post-silicon system validation across the full lifecycle of server hardware systems, ensuring functional and performance meets product objectives. You will help drive end-to-end blade and rack validation including development, execution, and debug while collaborating across silicon, firmware, systems, and platform teams.

The Blade and Rack Validation team is responsible for ensuring system readiness and quality at scale. The team works cross-functionally with firmware, silicon, and system engineering teams to validate complex AI compute platforms.

What You’ll Do

• Help drive and execute post-silicon validation goals of AI compute blades and racks including testcase planning, development, and automation
• Help drive validation testcase execution and system debug against program achievements and report validation progress and risks.
• Drive provisioning and integration of system components (SoC FW, BMC, RMC, OS) for rack-level readiness
• Triage test failures, collect debug data, and collaborate on root cause analysis.
• Track validation coverage and continuously improve test processes and infrastructure.

What You’ll Bring

• Working towards a Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Passion to learn and gain experience in large-scale server or AI infrastructure hardware validation environments.
• Exposure on hardware validation or debug based of x86 or ARM architecture-based server systems, rack, or embedded validation.
• Understanding of key concepts related CPU/GPU, memory, IO, and BIOS testing.
• Experience with Linux/server OS and automation using Python/Bash.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and large-scale test automation infrastructures.
• Working in lab environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of concepts of BMC, IPMI, Redfish.
• Familiarity with OpenBMC and processes for verifying firmware functionality.
• Experience with test and asset management tools.
