Job summary

The Addison Group in Houston is seeking a hands-on IT Systems Engineer to design, build, modernize, operate, and improve the infrastructure supporting our branches, datacenters, and business applications. You will focus on Windows Server, VMware, Dell servers, Active Directory, containerized workloads, identity services, automation, and related datacenter technologies.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of hands-on systems engineering, infrastructure engineering, or infrastructure implementation experience.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Windows Server and Active Directory.
• Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere/ESXi environments.
• Hands-on experience supporting containerized workloads, with Docker/Kubernetes knowledge.
• Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Dell enterprise server hardware.
• Working knowledge of DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, authentication, certificates, and enterprise infra dependencies.
• PowerShell scripting and automation experience.
• Ability to produce clear technical diagrams, build docs, and recovery procedures.
• Experience in multi-site distributed environments.
• Ability to work on-site in Houston, travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, implement, and support server and virtualization solutions for branch and data center environments.
• Deploy and integrate Windows Server, VMware, Dell server hardware, Active Directory, DNS, and storage.
• Build, operate, and improve containerized workloads and compute resources.
• Integrate container platforms with networking, load balancing, storage, identity, and security services.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure issues across virtualization, OS, identity, and networking.
• Develop PowerShell scripts to standardize builds and automate tasks.
• Create documentation, diagrams, and recovery procedures.
• Partner with Network, Security, DB, and App teams to ensure end-to-end functionality.
• Travel to branches and data centers for deployments and migrations.
