Job summary

Amentum in Dahlgren, VA seeks a Systems Engineer – Employment Engineer to join our engineering team, supporting the Sea-Launched Cruise Missile–Nuclear (SLCM-N) program. You will help develop, integrate, analyze, and test advanced weapon-system capabilities and technologies.

You will analyze targeting data, perform threat and performance modeling, and collaborate with the Lead Product Owner and Technical Project Lead to ensure specifications meet customer priorities while maintaining system

Qualifications

• BS degree in engineering, science, or technical discipline or five years of demonstrated knowledge in lieu of degree.
• Five years of experience supporting nuclear operations, nuclear command and control, strategic weapons, or national-level programs.
• Five years of software engineering experience for real-time, software-intensive weapon/command/intelligence systems including requirements definition.
• Three years of specialized experience in software engineering and requirements analysis, design tradeoff studies, and real-time systems.
• Experience with weapon-system specification development using DOORS or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain/maintain a Secret security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain RD/FRD access as required.

Responsibilities

• Apply knowledge of the SLCM-N weapon system to evaluate the operational impact of new design choices.
• Assess impacts to operational users including USSTRATCOM and CCDRs.
• Perform analysis of targeting data, mission-planning capabilities, system performance, and threats.
• Support modeling and simulation activities related to threat mitigation and survivability.
• Participate in trade studies and design optimization for survivability, range, and lethality.
• Support requirements definition, schedule alignment, and L0/L1 traceability.
• Develop and maintain program artifacts, including LMDP and WISE deliverables.
• Collaborate with Lead/Product Owner and Technical Project Lead to align activities with priorities.
• Support software requirements definition and engineering analysis.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
