Job summary

PACCAR is seeking a Systems Engineer- Vehicle Function Definition to drive systems development across requirements, analysis, and implementation for vehicle functions. You will define, implement, and maintain system specifications and collaborate with an architecture team to deliver robust controls.

The role requires strong leadership, communication, and ability to work across remote sites, with up to 10% travel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in CS/SE/EE or related technical field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with automotive or similar electronic modules.
  • Experience with requirement management tools (DOORS, DNG, JAMA).

Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of systems development from requirements to implementation.
  • Implement new features and functions for vehicle systems.
  • Build Control Function Architecture with architecture team support.
  • Create and maintain system/subsystem/software specs in DOORS Next Gen.
  • Lead/participate in peer reviews to ensure requirements compliance.
  • Provide technical leadership for sophisticated technology development.
  • Collaborate with engineers to define key functional and performance requirements.
  • Ensure milestones are met with quality and safety standards.
  • Travel up to 10% as needed.

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead all aspects of systems development such as requirements definition, analysis and development of their applicable system
  • Implement new feature and functions.
  • Build Control Function Architecture with assistance from architecture team
  • Create and maintain applicable system/subsystem/component software specifications in IBM DOORS Next Generation (DNG)
  • Lead/participate in software peer reviews to ensure compliance to requirements
  • Provide technical leadership for sophisticated technology development
  • Collaborate with other System Engineers and subject matter experts to define and negotiate key functional and performance requirements
  • Ensure work is completed as per the milestones with excellence
  • Responsible for compliance with PACCAR Inc. processes and safety procedures
  • Represent the team globally as a key partner to the product
  • Support and/or lead activities for customer outreach and education in these technologies and their respective use cases
  • Up to 10% travel can be expected
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related technical degree required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with automotive or similar electronic modules and/or systems engineering
  • Experience with requirement management tools such as DOORS, DNG, JAMA etc.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • High level of oral and written communication skills and basic project management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with colleagues local and at remote sites
  • Comfortable with ambiguity
  • Strong technical leadership skills and able to work in a highly collaborative environment
  • Creative, disciplined, strong sense of responsibility, delivery and schedule commitment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree
  • Understanding of major automotive vehicle systems such as Advanced Driver-Assistance (ADAS), Motion Control, Automotive Network, and Powertrain
  • Experience in writing and comprehending software and hardware requirements and interfaces
  • Experience in automotive product release and specification process
  • Experience using Matlab/Simulink for building low resolution prototypes.
  • Experience working with EV's and/or fuel cell vehicles.
