Job summary

Motorola Solutions is building a talent pipeline for field engineering roles. The selected candidate will travel 25-60% for radio system upgrades, lead customer presentations, perform system staging, and document configurations while ensuring architectural integrity.

Strong knowledge of radio and IP networks, plus end-customer interaction, will be essential. A Bachelor's degree in a related field is required, with US citizenship or clearance eligibility a must.

Qualifications

  • Experience/knowledge in radio communication systems, radio propagation, RF, wireless or broadband/LTE highly desirable
  • Experience with IP networking, network design methodologies & troubleshooting (Ethernet, TCP/IP, L2/L3, MPLS) highly desirable
  • Certifications through CompTIA Network+, Juniper JNCIA-Junos, Nokia NRS1, CCNA or similar, highly desirable
  • Previous knowledge and experience working with some or all of Juniper, Aviat, Cisco, Nokia/Alcatel, Xtreme, Ceragon, highly desirable
  • Experience directly working with end-user customers is essential
  • Excellent communications skills and the ability to present complex topics to nontechnical audiences is essential
  • 50-60% travel is required for upgrade projects.

The Motorola Solutions team comprises Sales, Project Management, Systems Engineering and System Technologist personnel working together in a high performance culture, often with demanding cycle times and high customer expectations as we work to deploy mission critical communication systems. Many of these systems are designed around the APCO Project 25 communications standard, often with interfaces to other critical customers' sub-systems. With the growth of data services some of our customers’ mobile wireless networks are being enhanced with connectivity to an LTE infrastructure, leveraging compelling applications and live mobile video, supplementing our traditional core voice and narrow-band data networks.

Job Description

NOTE: Motorola Solutions is building talent pipelines to meet future hiring demands. Role Responsibilities

Individuals will be responsible for carrying out field engineering duties during a radio system upgrade cycle. He/she will be responsible for upgrading/deploying various devices which include network gear, Windows-based devices, virtual machines and Motorola proprietary devices. Along with above duties, individuals will be a customer facing technical resource through the upgrade effort. They will travel to customer locations to carry out their duties.

Specific Knowledge/Skills
  • Experience/knowledge in radio communication systems, radio propagation, RF, wireless or broadband/LTE highly desirable
