Mainline seeks an experienced Storage and Backup Systems Engineer (SE) to join the Managed Services organization, responsible for managing and supporting various client storage and backup environments. This client-facing role involves providing insight and guidance throughout the sales cycle, client kickoff, and ongoing management. The SE must possess strong technical skills complemented by excellent customer relationship skills.

Job Summary

The Storage and Backup Systems Engineer will have a solid technical background and proven communication skills. This remote position can be located anywhere in the U.S. and involves supporting client storage and backup environments, from sales to ongoing management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Manage and support client storage and backup systems.
2. Develop system concepts and requirements at system, software, and hardware levels.
3. Monitor systems within the storage and backup domain.
4. Support resolution of support incidents.
5. Troubleshoot issues across development, test, and production systems.
6. Participate in system management and security compliance activities.
7. Oversee monitoring and configuration management.
8. Develop procedures and documentation for storage systems.
9. Automate tasks using scripting and other automation tools.
10. Create knowledge base articles to streamline support.
11. Mentor junior engineers and share storage and backup best practices.
12. Develop monthly performance reports highlighting system health and opportunities for efficiency.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Experience with technologies such as IBM, NetApp, Pure, Infinidat, Dell, Veeam, CommVault, NetBackup, Rubrik, Brocade.
• Advanced knowledge of AIX, Linux, Windows operating systems.
• Professional certifications are required and ongoing.
• Proactive with a focus on customer satisfaction.
• Minimum 7+ years of support experience in Storage & Backup Administration.
• Experience performing firmware upgrades.
• Strong troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and time management skills.

Education and Experience

• BA or BS degree or equivalent.
• At least 7 years of experience managing enterprise storage solutions.

Environmental and Physical Requirements

This is a fully remote position within the U.S. and involves typical office or home office environment factors. Travel may be required rarely, including auto and air travel. Irregular schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime, may be necessary.
