Job summary

Lockheed Martin in Chelmsford, MA is seeking a System Engineer for the MFC Systems team. You will translate customer requirements into reliable missile‑system specifications and guide hardware/software design through verification and validation.

Responsibilities include leading cross‑functional planning, executing tests, and maintaining configuration control while collaborating with software, hardware, test, and quality teams to meet milestones. U.S. citizenship and secret clearance are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field
  • Demonstrated ability to support cross-functional teams through major technical reviews across the acquisition lifecycle (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR)
  • Experience applying System Engineering processes in an Agile environment
  • Prior customer engagement experiences requiring communication of technical concepts to external stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of test planning, test execution, and test analysis principles
  • Interim Secret Clearance required to start

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical planning, integration, verification and validation activities across the full system lifecycle—from concept and design through fabrication, test, operation and disposal.
  • Translate requirements into hardware and software specifications; develop test plans; execute verification events and troubleshoot anomalies.
  • Performing functional, timeline and trade‑study analyses to allocate requirements and define interfaces for hardware and software.
  • Generating and executing subsystem‑ and system‑level integration and test procedures, ensuring they meet cost, schedule and risk constraints.
  • Preparing test equipment and facilities, coordinating with test labs to support DVT, ESS, EMI and ATP events.
  • Supporting failure investigations, diagnosing hardware, software or test‑equipment anomalies and driving corrective actions to closure.
  • Providing engineering evaluations for redesigns or upgrades to existing missile hardware, assessing impact on performance, cost and schedule.
  • Maintaining configuration control and documentation of test results, verification reports and lessons‑learned artifacts.
  • Collaborating with cross‑functional teams—systems, software, hardware, test, manufacturing and quality—to ensure seamless integration and compliance with program milestones.
  • Traveling domestically to support program test events, customer briefings and technical meetings.

You will be the System Engineer for the Missiles & Fire Control (MFC) Systems team. Our team transforms customer and product requirements into complete, reliable missile‑system solutions, delivering on schedule, within budget and with the highest level of performance and supportability.

What You Will Be Doing

As the System Engineer you will lead technical planning, integration, verification and validation activities across the full system lifecycle—from concept and design through fabrication, test, operation and disposal. You will translate requirements into hardware and software specifications, develop test plans, execute verification events and troubleshoot any anomalies that arise. Your responsibilities will include

  • Performing functional, timeline and trade‑study analyses to allocate requirements and define interfaces for hardware and software.

  • Preparing test equipment and facilities, coordinating with test labs to support Design Verification Tests (DVT), Environmental Stress Screening (ESS), Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and Functional Acceptance Test (ATP) events.
  • Supporting failure investigations, diagnosing hardware, software or test‑equipment anomalies and driving corrective actions to closure.
  • Providing engineering evaluations for redesigns or upgrades to existing missile hardware, assessing impact on performance, cost and schedule.
  • Maintaining configuration control and documentation of test results, verification reports and lessons‑learned artifacts.
  • Collaborating with cross‑functional teams—systems, software, hardware, test, manufacturing and quality—to ensure seamless integration and compliance with program milestones.

MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN - This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must be able to obtain a secret clearance. A company-sponsored Interim Secret is required to start.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $118000.00 - $219100.00
