Job summary

Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a Systems Engineer to join the SEIT team responsible for turning mission requirements into robust system solutions. You will help definitize architectures and define critical interfaces across space hardware and software.

The role requires MBSE, strong collaboration, and experience with satellite or ground segment programs, with eligibility for a DoD SECRET clearance. Multiple locations available.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of Systems Engineering and/or architecture experience.
  • MBSE experience.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience defining and executing system/segment level trades.
  • Experience working on Satellite or Ground Segment programs.
  • Eligibility to obtain a DoD SECRET Security Clearance; US Citizenship required.

This position will be a key member of the Systems Engineering, Integration and Test (SEIT) team in support of the final design, development, production, integration, test, and delivery of this critical capability focused on the requirements development, decomposition, and verification.

Multiple locations available for this position.

This position is contingent on program award, expected in 3Q 2026.

Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. For positions that perform IT responsibilities, use E646, Systems Engr-IT.

Basic Qualifications
  • 5 years of Systems Engineering and/or architecture experience
  • Demonstrated experience with analysis and performing functional and performance-based thread engineering/CONOPs
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Experience defining and executing system/segment level trades
  • Experience working either Satellite or Ground Segment programs
  • MBSE experience
  • Eligibility to obtain a DOD SECRET Security Clearance. Thus US Citizenship is required
Desired Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Engineering or a closely related technical discipline
  • 10+ years of Systems Engineering and/or Architect experience
  • Experience working with mission CONOPS and how it evolves into the design reference mission (DRM), day in the life (DITL), or equivalent method of defining mission operations
  • System Integration Experience
  • Background in architecting and/or designing communication subsystems (e.g., RF, optical, digital), for space missions
  • Experience defining, developing, or tailoring Digital Models of complex systems
  • Active or Current DoD SECRET Security Clearance

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $145100.00 - $269500.00

  • Annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs may be offered depending on the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year and are tied to a range of performance metrics.
  • For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
